Aesthetics and science, practised as one work on two materials — memory and measurement.
ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ — ನೆನಪು ಮತ್ತು ಅಳತೆ ಎಂಬ ಎರಡು ವಸ್ತುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ನಡೆಸುವ ಒಂದೇ ಕೆಲಸ.
Buddideepa is an aesthetics and scientific research organisation rooted in the hills of Kolar. Its work grows from anti-caste consciousness, oral tradition, and the arts of direct experience — knowledge carried in communities and in the body, not only in books.
ಬುಡ್ಡಿ ದೀಪವು ಕೋಲಾರದ ಬೆಟ್ಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೂರಿರುವ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯಮೀಮಾಂಸೆ ಮತ್ತು ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ. ಇದರ ಕೆಲಸವು ಜಾತಿವಿರೋಧಿ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆ, ಮೌಖಿಕ ಪರಂಪರೆ ಮತ್ತು ನೇರ ಅನುಭವದ ಕಲೆಗಳಿಂದ ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ — ಜ್ಞಾನವು ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿದೆ.
We treat memory and measurement as the same pursuit approached from two sides. The elder who reads the season and the instrument that reads the rock are doing kindred work: attending closely to a living place and setting down what they find.

Experiential arts, oral tradition, performance, and community knowledge — held and taught by the people who carry the land's memory. Dignity-first, built with the community rather than about it, and open to whoever comes to learn.

The Station is a multi-disciplinary field facility on the granite. It reads deep time in two directions from one place: downward into three-billion-year-old Archean rock, and upward into the light of the night sky.

Likely the first station to join deep-sky astronomy with deep-time Archean geoscience at a community scale — in a living landscape, around a single unifying idea.

The rock and the sky are the same story told at two scales. Both are records of deep time; the hill simply lets you read them from one outcrop, on one night.

Some of the oldest exposed rock on Earth, still keeping time.

The Station stands on an Archean granite inselberg: a smooth, weather-rounded dome of some of the most ancient rock on the planet, rising alone from the plain around Kolar.
ಈ ಕೇಂದ್ರವು ಆರ್ಕಿಯನ್ ಗ್ರಾನೈಟ್ ಶಿಲಾಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲಿದೆ: ಗ್ರಹದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಶಿಲೆಯ ನುಣುಪಾದ, ಹವಾಮಾನದಿಂದ ದುಂಡಾದ ಗುಮ್ಮಟ — ಕೋಲಾರದ ಸುತ್ತಲಿನ ಬಯಲಿನಿಂದ ಏಕಾಂಗಿಯಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದಿದೆ.
It is the reason the two windows belong together. The same outcrop that holds a record of the early Earth also lifts you clear of the surrounding light, into a dark sky. The hill is not a backdrop to the work — it is the instrument.

The most valuable questions here are the ones neither the scientist nor the elder can yet answer. That shared frontier — where no one holds the answer in advance — is where knowledge gets built together, on equal footing.

Community observation is gathered as it is offered — desire-led, oral where it needs to be, so that the knowledge already present on this land is recognised rather than overlooked.

The singular observation that doesn't fit the pattern is often the most valuable one. We keep those out-of-distribution signals intact, rather than smoothing them away into an average.
